I spent one winter in the mid '70s in Grand Marais, where my brother and I spent many happy hours wandering the rocky shore of Superior. Some of my favourite memories are those "angry" times when storms were blowing in, and whole groves of trees were covered in magical-looking ice. This photo brought back that feeling :-).

Mary Amerman replied:

Thanks for sharing that Tim. I love all of this Lake's moods, but her fury is most impressive, and humbling. :)

Spectacular photograph! I love the artistic composition and how the ice structure leads the eye. Striking turquoise blue in the icy foreground...Beautiful capture! L/F

Mary Amerman replied:

Thanks Corey for your thoughtful comment! I'm glad you like this.

Thanks for visiting my photography page. I live on a hillside above the Great Lake Superior, with a trail into the North Woods leading out from the back yard. I feel fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, and find photographic inspiration here year round. I hope you enjoy my perspective.
